Circular aluminium fittings on top of one another in a blue container on a shelf.

Since we have a lot of interaction with our customers in the shop, we know pretty well that customers shopping for aluminium fittings come in two sizes, mostly: those who need to weld their fittings and choose aluminium for its welding properties and those who are specifically looking for a camlock.

Aluminium can be processed into various profiles with good plasticity, has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, and is generally good value. We see a lot of welding in the automotive or marine areas, like welding into a boat or a fuel tank.

If you're looking to weld with our aluminium fittings, we stock both weld-in and screw types, so you have good a selection to choose from.

Camlocks are used in nearly every industry - from rubbish collection to vacuum to general purpose pumping to water and sewer tanks - pretty much every customer we have uses them. Aluminium camlocks are ideal for hydraulic oil and petroleum products, although they do work well with water too.

If you aren't sure about a camlock's pressure rating, ask us. Depending on the temperature, aluminium camlock pressure ratings vary from <50psi to ~250psi. As you know, when the temperature rises, the maximum working pressure will decrease some. It could be that you require a different pressure rating than an aluminium camlock can offer and you might have to switch materials. We can advise on whatever your project requires.

In general, when you want a lightweight, economical option that mixes with the following, aluminium is a good choice for:

  • Abrasive materials
  • Air
  • Coolant
  • Diesel fuel
  • Gasoline
  • Hydraulic fluid
  • Lubricated air
  • Oil
  • Water
