KLARO systems offer efficiency, easy maintenance, and an environmentally conscious way to treat wastewater for a single household, communal facility, a community, hotel, or restaurant. KLARO systems ensure that water is cleaned and returned to the environment in a sustainable way in harmony with the environment.
The system has the ability to treat 2,000L/day or more. It can accommodate any number of people from households of a few to over 1,000 (one tank serves up to 10 people).
Based in Germany, KLARO has more than 300,000 users of its quality systems worldwide that more than comply with New Zealand resource management plans. Allflow is the exclusive dealer in New Zealand. Let us help you design and install a KLARO wastewater treatment system.
Wastewater packages include:
- 9,000 litre precast concrete tank
- Treatment capacity sizes up to and exceeding 2,000L/day. Up to 10 people per day can be served by one tank

- Timeless, durable design
- Can be accessed by maintenance companies at any time
- No installation work in your home
- Extremely quiet air compressor - as quiet as a refrigerator
- Extensive range of accessories available (acoustic and visual warning equipment, sockets, more)
- Power failure detection as standard
- Size 37cm x 80cm x 38cm (w x h x d)
BenefitsWhether you're a single household, an accommodation provider with communal facilities, hotel or restaurant owners, you will find these systems efficient, environmentally safe and easy to maintain. KLARO systems have
- no mechanics in the wastewater, just an extremely quiet high-performance air compressor in the control cabinet,
- no pumps in the wastewater, all conveyance is controlled using compressed air (though some applications will require a discharge pump), and
- no electric parts in the wastewater, unless a discharge pump is required.
KLARO is an industry leader in the energy efficient SBR Technology used for wastewater treatment. Sequencing batch reactors, or SBRs, use a separate pre-treatment section to mechanically hold back solids and a biological aeration and settling tank. Small SBR wastewater treatment systems clean incoming wastewater over a number of cycles.
Detailed features include:
Cost effectiveness: Power consumption is 0.6 – 1 kW/day for treatment
Safety: A comprehensive service network and tested technology ensures your safety
Domestic, commercial, or industrial packages: Fully alarmed treatment and discharge monitoring
Underload protection: Saving up to 48% in energy costs, the treatment system only operates when there is a sufficient quantity to dose
Maintenance friendly: Virtually all maintenance work is performed at the control cabinet
Choice of tanks: Concrete or plastic injection moulded tanks comply or exceed the AS/NZ 1546.1:2008 standard
Top discharge values: 70-80% lower than those required by law. Provision for phosphate precipitation and UV disinfectant can be incorporated. Importantly, the KLARO Wastewater System exceeds the requirement set out in AS/NZS 1547:2012 for secondary treatment levels.
How KLARO Wastewater Systems work (see image)
First the wastewater enters the sludge reservoir buffer (first chamber), where the solid parts are retained. From there, the wastewater is channelled into the SBR container (second chamber) one portion at a time.
The actual biological cleaning takes place in the SBR container. Ventilation and stationary phases alternate as part of a controlled cleaning process. This creates so called activated sludge with many of microorganisms and thoroughly cleans the water.
Next is a stationary phase, where the activated sludge sinks to the bottom of the system. This forms a clear water zone in the top part of the SBR container.
Clear water extraction
The cleaned wastewater is then channeled into a discharge system or into an infiltration system. The sludge is extracted back from the SBR container into the first chamber. And then process starts all over again.

Let us provide a customised package and quote
Our team has decades of experience in residential wastewater systems. Each system is customised for the specific load it has to handle at each facility. We can design and install the entire system, including securing all necessary consents. We can also work with drainlayers on your building team and supply all the necessary equipment.
A commercial wastewater system in Motueka
Motueka family fruit grower Birdhurst Ltd selected a KLARO wastewater system, designed, supplied, and installed by Allflow’s expert wastewater team, to treat on site wastewater from two single-level accommodation units built in 2019.
Marahau visitor centre at the Abel Tasman National Park uses Klaro
When the Department of Conservation (DoC) was looking for an on-site wastewater system in Marahau, at the entrance to the Abel Tasman National Park, Allflow’s expertise in wastewater provided the reassurance the department needed for such a sensitive location.
