KLARO systems offer efficiency, easy maintenance, and an environmentally conscious way to treat wastewater for a single household, communal facility, a community, hotel, or restaurant. KLARO systems ensure that water is cleaned and returned to the environment in a sustainable way in harmony with the environment.

The system has the ability to treat 2,000L/day or more. It can accommodate any number of people from households of a few to over 1,000 (one tank serves up to 10 people).

Key features

KLARO is an industry leader in the energy efficient SBR Technology used for wastewater treatment. Sequencing batch reactors, or SBRs, use a separate pre-treatment section to mechanically hold back solids and a biological aeration and settling tank. Small SBR wastewater treatment systems clean incoming wastewater over a number of cycles.

Choice of tanks: Concrete or plastic injection moulded tanks comply or exceed the AS/NZ 1546.1:2008 standard

Top discharge values: 70-80% lower than those required by law. Provision for phosphate precipitation and UV disinfectant can be incorporated. Importantly, the KLARO Wastewater System exceeds the requirement set out in AS/NZS 1547:2012 for secondary treatment levels.

How KLARO Wastewater Systems work (see image)

Feed phase

First the wastewater enters the sludge reservoir buffer (first chamber), where the solid parts are retained. From there, the wastewater is channelled into the SBR container (second chamber) one portion at a time.

Ventilation phase

The actual biological cleaning takes place in the SBR container. Ventilation and stationary phases alternate as
part of a controlled cleaning process. This creates so called activated sludge with many of microorganisms and thoroughly cleans the water.

Stationary phase

Next is a stationary phase, where the activated sludge sinks to the bottom of the system. This forms a clear water zone in the top part of the SBR container.

Clear water extraction

The cleaned wastewater is then channeled into a discharge system or into an infiltration system. The sludge is extracted back from the SBR container into the first chamber. And then process starts all over again.
